Its V-day Day.
Wat does this day of L.O.V.E means to you?
Chocolates, roses, being broke???
haha.. Having gone thru several over the years, I should be feeling bored abt this 'celebrated day for Lovers.'
But I'm not. I don't have a date. Not a true one to add...unless I get some divine intervention. Instead...
I'm still going to try to celebrate this day. Becoz, to me the principal of this day is worthy to be celebrated..
Its not the gifts, not just the presents, kisses... I'm getting to hold on the fact tat this day is abt the day when people have a reason to be affecionate...and most importantly, to think of others better than of themselves.
The meaning behind a gift, isn't simply such as the price or the 'unqiness' of the gift. Rather, I see the action before the gift is being presented. The saving of the giver, wat he/she has to forgo to purchase/make this gift. The headaches of choosing which colour, which size...etc.. I think everyone who has taken great pains to choose a gift will understand.
And wat does the giver expect in return. It varies doesn't it? But the prinicipal usually lies, in --"I give something, I expected something in return."
In all honesty, we do expected a reaction at the very least. And this reaction is possiblity why the giver wanted to present the gift in the first place. But is tat wrong? Well, I don't think so. Unless of course the motive could be suspect. But this is the truth we live in this world. Even a non-reply is also a response to the giver, that possibly the gift isn't accepted or the giver isn't respected.
So, I delight in the day, tat on this day, there'll be people's whose weeks of saving or their ang bao money spent on just one gift on this day, to bring a smile to their loved one. Yes, there will be people, heartbroken or hurt.w/o a date...but you don't need a romantic love for this day. If we keep the principal in order, then, continue to live each day as its a V-day...blessing others, never stopping to show affection to others in the respectfully manner that will bring a smile to those around you.
Ever day can be v-day...under this principal..
1Cor13:4-7 (NIV)
Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; (5) it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; (6) it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. (7) Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (8)Love never ends....
Attempt to love one another from this day.
